The summer transfer window is now open, and it’s the start of a really busy few months for Chelsea.
The Blues are set to revamp their squad to try and get closer to Liverpool and Manchester City next season.
Thomas Tuchel knows he has a big challenge ahead of him to try and mount a serious title challenge with Chelsea, but it is one that can be achieved if the recruitment is right this summer.
It’s easier said than done, of course, but a busy summer period is expected either way.
London takes a look at three of the hottest rumours and transfer stories that are circulating online at the moment.
JJorginho looks set to help Thomas Tuchel find a replacement for Antonio Rudiger this summer, with the Chelsea midfielder subject to growing interest from overseas.
The 30-year-old sees his contract at Stamford Bridge expire next year and, despite his agent claiming that a new deal in west London is a ‘priority’, he’s been linked with a move to Juventus.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Old Lady are putting together a proposal for Chelsea, which could see Merih Demiral used as a makeweight in a swap deal.
The 24-year-old is reportedly set to return to Juventus this summer following an uninspired season-long loan at Atalanta.
Calciomercato add that Demiral is not in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans and that the club intends to sell the centre-back this summer.
With Jorginho on the Old Lady’s radar and the Turkey international surplus to requirements, the Italian giants are reportedly set to offer a swap deal.
Zinedine Zidane could hand Thomas Tuchel a major blow in the summer transfer window, with the former Real Madrid boss heavily tipped to replace Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout at Paris Saint-Germain.
The report adds that the French giant’s new sporting director Luis Campos is under pressure from the club’s Qatari ownership to appoint Zidane over Nice boss Christophe Galtier.
Zidane is said to want ‘absolute control’ over recruitment in the French capital, and he already has two players in mind that he’d like to earmark the birth of a new era at the club.
One of whom, according to El Chiringuito, via Sport, is Chelsea transfer target Ousmane Dembele.
London understand that Chelsea have agreed a fee with Southampton for goalkeeper Eddie Beach.
London also understand that several clubs were interested in securing the shot-stopper’s signature this summer, but Chelsea won the race.
Ironically enough, Beach’s final appearance of the 2021/22 U18 Premier League campaign came against the west Londoners in a 5-2 win.
