The 2022/23 campaign is set to be a season like no other.
With the fixtures for the new Premier League campaign released on Thursday morning, excitement is building for it already.
Last year’s top two have already made big moves in the transfer market, with Manchester City signing Erling Haaland and Liverpool splashing out on Darwin Nunez.
Behind them, Spurs have brought in Ivan Perisic and back-up goalkeeper Fraser Forster, while also agreeing a deal to sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton.
The Premier League campaign looks set to be even more exciting than the last.
Not only that it will be one of the most gruelling and demanding seasons on record.
That is because of the World Cup taking place in Qatar this year.
With summer temperatures in the middle east rocketing up to 45 degrees Celsius in June and July, the 2022 tournament had to be moved.
That has had a knock-on effect with the Premier League.
The winter is normally one of the busiest periods in the English football calendar – but not this year.
This year there is a big chunk of action missing, due to the fact that the World Cup is taking place this winter.
When the fixtures were released on Thursday morning, some fans could have been forgiven for having a double take when they looked through their team’s list.
Each club only has two games in November and two games in December, with the season going on hiatus from November 12 until Boxing Day.
That is because this year’s World Cup will run from November 21, 2022 to December, 18, 2022.
Thus, the Premier League will start earlier than usual – with Crystal Palace vs Arsenal the first fixture on Friday August 5th – and pause from November 12 until December 26, 2022.
